Adventure Race

The Lincoln Journal Star reports that Sunday is the last day to register for the Meridian Challenge Adventure Race to be held October 13 near Cozad. More details here. I couldn't find the blurb on the LJS website but it is on the far left column of page 2B.

Taco Ride is September 27

There has been some interest in getting a group to go up to the Taco Ride near Omaha on Thursday. Some want to leave in the morning and ride some trails around Omaha. Then, there are others who want to go in the afternoon or evening.

It seems beneficial to get a carpool kind of situation in place for people who know they are going around the same time. If you're interested in this, say something and maybe there will be a way to have less cars going.

Bring lights, obviously.

Labor Day Ride

Adrian saw this post on my blog and asked me to post it here - thanks for the invite, Adrian!

Heading out of Elmwood we found a picturesque church. Another cyclist happened by and took our picture.

Getting ready to head in to lunch in Louisville. We started in Elmwood, rode north through Murdock to the turn by Quarry Oaks, took hiway 66 past Mahoney State Park to Ashland, turned north on hiway 6 to the Nebraska Crossings Outlet Mall with a rest stop at the Flying J truck stop. Next we took hiway 31 south through Schramm State Park and over the Lied bridge to hiway 66, then hiway 50 to lunch in a cafe in Louisville. After lunch it was north across the Platte River again, this time on 50, looped around west on 31 to the Lied bridge, which we crossed for the second time that day, then back up 66 through South Bend up to Quarry Oaks, where we turned south to head back to the cars at Elmwood. Ride total was about 60 miles - good weather, good company, and only two flats (Rusty and Dave) and one crash (me - no injuries to me or the bike).

Taco Ride/Take 2/ September 27

The leaves will be turning and falling from the trees on the Wabash trail just about the time we do the Taco Ride on Sept. 27th. At least, I hope this will be the case, as I imagine it will look stunning. And, sound crunchy.

Please keep this date in mind to traverse to Council Bluffs, IA (approx. 1 hr-1 hr 20 min. drive).

Details soon.

Planning for October...

I know it's only September, but the Blue's Halloween ride is on the horizon. The date isn't finalized yet, but some of us have already started planning our costumes. It was a lot of fun last year and I imagine it will be again. I will bring the lipstick for Jason.

Also, there has been some interest in riding out to the "Corn Maize" in Denton again. Hopefully it will be a little warmer this year. Costumes obviously weren't required for this ride, but it definitely made it more interesting.

Oh, and a September taco ride plan is being devised, for out in Council Bluffs, IA. Good times were had last fall so we thought we'd try it again. The date being thrown out is September 27, but that may change. Stay tuned.

When dates are certain, it will all be posted.

If you hadn't noticed, I am excited for fall. It's the weather, I think. :)
